- I grew up in Papua New Guinea, went to high school in Malaysia, college in Los Angeles and culinary school in New York. I have cooked from Burma/Myanmar to New Zealand and have found there is always more to learn about food and about people through food. I love to travel, cook, study, garden and hang out online learning what is going on out there in the world. In a series of 4-8 minute episodes our stars Ruthie and Mikko show how to involve local community and other fun sustainable activities that are vital to raising healthy brains and bodies.

I am so tired tonight, it is so sad to see the videos and photos of the horrible destruction that continues, and the images of hungry children. Burmese Victims of Cyclone Nargis
Following is a message from Burma describing the situation:
Because the cyclone went farther south than expected, it stayed over water and therefore maintained strength and hit several townships, including Mawlamyine, which was never predicted. On the way, it significantly destroyed 8 townships (think of them as large counties) where the loss of human life is currently estimated to be between 90-95%.
