A Little About Me
I am married to Peter and have two grown up sons. My eldest son has a little boy Jacob and they are expecting a second child next month. I moved to the Highlands about 16 months ago. Before that I lived in Surrey and was a Palliative care nurse specialist. I love singing in a choir and ceididh dancing and walking my two dogs. Also last but not least spending time with Jacob who is a delight.
A Little About My Business
My business was inspired by Jacob when I started buying organic cotton clothes for him and loved the quality and softness and the fact that it was helping the environment. I now have a website which has been running for about 8 months selling Organic cotton baby and childrens clothes and accessories and organic baby skincare. I publish regular news about eco issues and have a daily blog.

Ethical Shopping

Ethical shopping is a subject much discussed at present but what does it actually mean to consumers? Wikipedia defines it as buying things which have caused no harm or exploitation to humans, animals or the natural environment. Our newspapers are full of tales of factory farming, climate change, sweatshops and child labour and it has been suggested that any purchase involves moral choices. Lets be realistic buying is a necessary part of modern life the nitty gritty is deciding whether we will ex… Continue

Is being ‘Green’ a middle class thing?

I have recently been thinking about the concept of being ‘green’ and asking myself is it a middle class thing? ” Green is the new black” scream headlines so yes it’s definitely trendy and generating lots of interest. I posted my question on a couple of forums to see what other people thought and had a number of very interesting replies. It’s more to do with motivation and is not a class thing at all suggested one person. Another thought that the suggestion that being green was middle class was j… Continue

Aspartame - Best Avoided

Lots of driving today! My car was due a service so off to Inverness, as I like to do as many things as possible when I drive down I had my hair cut and did the shopping as well. All very tiring I am not very fond of driving it's more necessity than pleasure as far as I am concerned. I received a very informative email the other day about Aspartame which is an artificial sweetner found in drinks labelled 'sugar free'. I remember some time ago a doctor that I worked with telling me what an unplea… Continue

Swaddling Revisted

Sometime ago I wrote an article about the benefits of swaddling it cited a research study from May 2005 by researchers at the Paediatric Sleep Unit of the University Children’s Hospital in Brussels which compared the sleeping habits of swaddled and unswaddled babies. It found that swaddled babies slept significantly better. They were more easily wakened by outside noises and their heart rate was more responsive. This study was undertaken because it was theorized that babies being swaddled on the… Continue

A little more about Fairtrade

Fairtrade is an organized social movement and market based model of International Trade (Wikipedia). In a capitalist society profits rule and the scramble of wealthy countries to make money often results in exploitation of small scale producers such as farmers, craft and textile workers etcetera who are left to exist on minimum wages without any hope for their and their family’s future. At present the rules of global economics are made by institutions such as the World Trade Organisation, the Wo… Continue

Hi Linda,
I haven't uploaded your products yet as I am overhauling the main page at the moment. It's having a bit of a re-design over the next few days!
You will be there under the correct categories and the site will be easier to navigate when I've finished,

Hi Linda,
So sorry - I only just noticed your message! Yes it can be difficult to get quality links that aren't reciprocal but it is do-able! You don't need to link your blog to any other site than your own. If yu blog is hosted seperately then a link from your blog to your site is great.
Don't forget places like Qassia and the ezines that you can get links from and Web Mums is a good link back too. Commenting on other peoples blogs can often give you a good link back - make sure it's blogs that are of similar content to what you are selling, like an Organic Features blog. Not only can you get a link back you can get traffic from people clicking to see your website from your comment.
Reciprocal links aren't completely disastrous and if it's all that's on offer then take it (from a quality site).
If you ever have any questions about this or anything just give me a shout. I never miss a PM but I do sometimes overlook a message that's been left on my page!

Hope you are enjoying the gorgeous BH sunshine, x

Hi, thanks for your positive feedback!

This has nothing to do with anything, but quite funny, I just tried pouring a bunch of yarrow tincture all over our cat in hopes to keep fleas away....Of course she started licking herself to clean it all off, and a few minutes later she was running and flipping all over the house, now she has passed out...I wonder if it was the alchol in the tincture--heh....

Linda,

That's great to hear! I really hope that the changes make a difference to you - though your site is truly lovely anyway - but this should hopefully lower your bounce rate! Those people navigating away from your site before delving further don't know what they are missing!! x

P.S
I also just noticed that you said how difficult it is to get across the softness and high quality of the garments. Well, put that on your home page. A page similar to your shop page, with 'The highest quality with the softest materials for your baby....' or something like that in that lovely fancy writing that says 'My Collection'. That combined with some beautiful pictures will have your buyer itching to delve further, x

(oh - and one last thing - if you want to reply back to a comment - make sure you click the link at the bottom of the comment you are replying to that says 'comment back'. You should then end up on that persons profile page to leave them a message - otherwise your comments will only appear on your page and will get missed. My fault, I should have mentioned that at the start! Right - I shall leave you in peace now)
